Whether you are a hardcore trekker or simply in for a stroll, a sport type or curious tourist, you can explore our territory and its pristine nature through a network of beautiful trails. You will be able to discover its ancient history, wildlife, people and culture.Several loops trails (for a total of about 160 Km) can be travelled on foot in 4/6 hours, by horseback or mountain bike.
Each trail has different features as the territory in Gaiole is diversified, with altitudes ranging from 224 meters asl in the South to a maximum 839 meters asl on the summit of Mount Calvo to the north.
The state road 408, the former” Chiantigiana”, that runs parallel to the Massellone river and, in part, to the Arbia river, is the main axis of the "Road of Castles", a plan- designed to help foreign guests to the visit of our wealthy and cultural heritage.
On the territory we have identified five routes along which it is possible admire and visit small villages, castles, churches and abbeys, and at any time guest can indulge in the pleasures of the Tuscan kitchen or simply sitting to drink a good glass of Chianti.
Each route is composed of a few kilometers and our the suggestion is to take it easy, enjoying the views-unique in the world- satisfy the soul enjoying the serenity and beauty of the places our ancestors left us.
